The school shall provide special education services related to the identification, monitoring, and referral of students in accordance with local, state, and federal laws.
 

What to Look for:
 

Are special education personnel and services available to assist students who have been referred for services?

  • a referral process is in place to identify students for special education services
  • special education personnel follow all local, state, and federal laws and keep current records on all students in their caseload
  • all special education information is maintained in locked and confidential file cabinets
  • students are regularly monitored and appropriate meetings are held at least once a year
  • all parents understand and are knowledgeable about the services provided by the special education department
