Standards for Accreditation

The Standards for Accreditation are at the center of the accreditation process.  They serve as basis for self-evaluation for schools, and they guide and support school improvement efforts.

Focused on teaching and learning (including the school and community resources necessary to support  teaching and learning), the seven Standards are largely qualitative and provide for schools with different missions to meet the Standards in a variety of ways.

The Standards undergo a major review (currently on-going) every ten years with revision every five years.  Leaders from member schools participate in the review process, focused on the review of research on best practice and future directions for public secondary schools.

You can review each of the individual Standards on the left or download a pdf version below. Printed copies of the Standards may be purchased by contacting rturton@neasc.org.
